5 Ways to Use Cucumbers as a Beauty Product

The summertime is one of the most perfect times to take advantage of the many benefits of cucumbers. This vegetable is so refreshing and contains about 96% water not only that cucumbers have a good source of Vitamin C, Potassium, and Vitamin K.

It’s packed with antioxidants and loaded with anti-inflammatories. Not only do I love to add cucumber to my salads, and water but I also love to use it on my skin. Here are 5 ways you can use cucumber as a beauty product.

1. Soothes Tired and Puffy Eyes

Stayed up too late one night? Or are you sick and can’t get a good night of sleep? So now you wake up and your eyes look tired and puffy, well you aren’t the only one with this problem. I have woke up plenty of times and my eyes look as if I haven’t slept in weeks.

When my eyes look tired and puffy I love to cut up two slices of cucumber and lay one over each eye. Depending on how bad my eyes look I let the cucumbers sit over each eye for about 10-20 minutes.

Why do cucumbers reduce the puffiness on your eyes? Well because they contain antioxidants that help in reducing the puffiness.

2. Helps Soothe a Sunburn

Cucumbers are known to be a great way to soothe a sunburn. They contain ingredients to soothe, hydrate, reduce swelling, and cool down a pretty bad sunburn.

All you have to do is cut a few slices of cucumber and apply it directly to the skin or cut and mash a cucumber, then apply it directly to your sunburn.

3. Can be used as a face mask to help acne

I occasionally suffer from an acne breakout and because of this, I was looking for ways to take the red blemishes out. I did some research and looked for a cucumber face mask.

One night before bed, I decided to cut up half a cucumber and mix it into a blender. I added in some oat flakes, the juice from a lemon, and then some honey. I applied this mix gently onto my skin for about 15-20 minutes.

This cucumber face mask worked amazing on my skin. It helped ease the inflammation on my skin, the redness, and even helped reduce any existing acne.

4. Can be used as a scrub to fight cellulite

Read the title? Yes, it’s true! Cucumbers fight the appearance of cellulite. They contain phytochemicals which cause the collagen on your outer skin to tighten up. This will help you reduce any cellulite.

This is perfect for summer days before the beach or pool, and even on days, you decide to wear shorts. Cut a few slices and rub the cucumber slice directly onto any areas of your skin where you may have cellulite.

5. Can be used to soften hair

Did you know cucumber juice can be used as a hair mask? Since cucumbers contain many vitamins and minerals it can be used to soften and shine hair.

If you are looking to have soft and shiny hair all you have to do is cut a cucumber up toss it into a blender. Once this is done blend in an egg and some olive oil.

After the ingredients are blended together you can now apply this hair mask all over your hair and your scalp for about 5-10 minutes. Then wash off with a shampoo. Your hair will now be feeling smooth, shiny, and soft.
